Shiny New (and Straight) Ski Course: A big THANK YOU goes out to the work crew this past Saturday. We tackled the big task of repairing the ski course, replacing the buoys and fixing the towers. The crew consisted of Jim Brooks and Brian Hockenbery (our scuba divers), Bruce Yarbrough, Frank Woodman, Mike Kerber (Tower repair). and Al Van, John Morton Jr, Rick Heil, Imre Weil, Joe Sloan, Rick Jacobs, Dan Birch, Linda Hockenbery and myself on Buoy replacement.

It is great to have the course back in shape to start out our ski season. (**For those of you with Zero Off or Stargazer, you will need to re-calibrate your GPS as the course moved over 5 feet after it was tightened). You can’t beat a perfect ski course with a brand new set of buoys on a glassy Sunday morning!

New Jump Water Pump: Scott Mize and Dale Gilbert worked on the Jump this week and replaced the old water pump. If you jump, you now do not have to prime it to start the water on the ramp.

UPCOMING EVENTS -May Open 3 Event Ski Tournament (May 19-20)- Get Your Entries in!! It is fast approaching. -Fiesta Days Ski Show – Saturday May 26th, Sunset Beach — Practice at 8am in North Ski area. Willy Bertotto will be heading up the CL Ski Club Waterski show this year. Please let me or Willy know if you are interested in helping or skiing. We need Barefooters, Over/Under Slalom, Pyramid, Trick skiing, Flag Line and much more. Scott Ski Club Prez

Calling all Skiers….. The Fun is about to Begin!

2012 Looks to be one of our best years yet!

Canyon Lake has long been known as a great site for 3 Event skiing and our deep water slalom course has seen some huge scores!

We have made a few changes to our 2012 Tournament Series to make this year better than ever:

1. All four tournaments will have Slalom and Jump, 3 Tournaments have all 3 events.
2. All tournaments include a Novice division
3. The 3 event tournaments are Pick and choose format with 6 total rides.
4. All tournaments include 3 rounds of Slalom for “Slalom Only” participants or if you want to exchange a trick or jump ride.
5. Our final October Tournament, The famous PB Team challenge, will include the “Turn and Burn” format.
6. No Canyon Lake 3 event tournaments conflict with other events in southern CA. We are the Place to Be!

Our first AWSA Sanctioned 3 Event tournament, the May Open (a.k.a. Big Al’s Favorite), is just weeks away!
This tournament marks the traditional start of the 2012 Water ski season in Southern California!

Remember, this tournament is a Pick and Choose format with six total rides. It has something for everyone.
Three eventers can get 2 rounds of 3 event, and Slalom skiers get 3 rounds of slalom! Everyone goes home happy!

Clean Up Day May 5

Posted: 2nd May 2012 by Admin in News

Attention all skiers,

We will be working on the ski course and the judging towers this Saturday AM (May 5th). Approx 9am till noon. (depending on how much help we get)

There is never a good time to shut down the course for repair. However, with the upcoming tournaments and the busy summer ahead, repairs are needed now.

We will be diving in the course to install a come-along to tighten the main cable. It has become very loose, is not straight, and bows in the wind. This will straighten the course and ensure we meet tolerances for competition.  We will also be replacing the buoys to improve flotation and visibility.  We will be securing the judging towers, replacing the anchors and installing Stainless steel cables.

Help is needed. If you can come down and help out we would love it.  Thanks for your understanding.
